Drexel Athletics are a big part of campus culture. Each year, more than 9,000 students participate in club or intramural sports. The list of athletic opportunities is extensive, including everything from ultimate Frisbee and track to rugby and water polo. The number of options available and the level of participation are limited only by the interest of each student.
The Center for Black Culture (CBC) serves as a hub of information, activity, and community for Black students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Open to all Drexel community members who want to support a wholly inclusive campus environment and gain a greater understanding of the Black experience, the CBC aims to increase knowledge, recognition, and respect of the people, histories, and cultures of the African diaspora and its many contributions to the world.
The Lindy Center for Civic Engagement fosters a culture of civic responsibility by providing programs and resources that empower Drexel students and the broader university community to expand their civic identities through engagement in mutually-beneficial partnerships that lead to a more just society.
It has already been one year since the 2011 Great East Earthquake and Tsunami devastated Japan and this month, there will be many events held in Southern California commemorating the one year of this tragedy. The Japan Foundation is organizing the Taiko Concert "Arigato from Japan," which will travel to eight cities in three different countries around the world. We kicked off the tour in Los Angeles to show the appreciation of the Japanese people, especially those from the Tohoku area, for the support of the American people during the crisis. If you were not able to attend this event, there will be other events where you can show your support for Japan in the coming days so I hope you will take this opportunity to experience Japanese culture in Southern California and other cities across the United States.

Culture ultimately consists of things done in a certain way that is important to a society. It has always amazed me that so many cultures thrived elbow to elbow and maintained their individuality in western Europe.
Our culture in the US was an amalgam, cobbled together over time from the cultures of those who were here, and those who came later. Now our culture is one of convenience, and even efficiency. Which is to say, our culture is fading from memory.
I recall watching a TV program that mentioned that the Aztecs or Mayas or some old culture that would throw gold artifacts into some very deep pits that had water in them. I would imagine that these are protected sites. What are they called, and where are they? Is there a specific museum that holds artifacts from these pits? 65.121.141.34 (talk) 20:50, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Under the same grant, which was awarded in July 2009, the WDL worked with theNational Library of Uganda (NLU) to establish a Digital Conversion Center at theNLU in Kampala. This center, the first of its kind in Uganda and one of very fewin sub-Saharan Africa, is enabling the National Library to digitize documentsrelating to the history and culture of Uganda for inclusion on its own websiteand on the WDL. The items digitized are from the NLU and other cooperatinginstitutions in Uganda. Future activities planned under the grant includeefforts to build capacity at libraries in South Africa so they, too cancontribute collections to the WDL. 041b061a72
